Sitges Tourism

Sitges hosts the Break The Ice Forum, a key event for the European business and congress tourism sector

120 professionals from the sector will be meeting in the town between 27 and 29 March to establish contacts, create business opportunities and enjoy the culture and food on offer in Sitges

Sitges is set to become the epicentre of the European business and congress tourism sector (MICE) for three days. The Break The Ice Forum is being held at the Hotel Calipolis from 27 to 29 March and is a leading event bringing together 120 professionals from the industry, the goal being to create new business opportunities and do some networking. Participating in the meeting will be 57 organisers of congresses, conventions and corporate events from several European countries, as well as 63 specialist companies from Spain and Europe.

The forum is being supported by the Sitges Convention Bureau, the programme by the Councillor’s Office for Tourism specialising in the promotion of Sitges for this tourism sector. The Councillor for Tourism, Xavier Ripoll, stressed that the event “offers a great opportunity to local companies, not only because it allows them to establish new connections and generate synergies with professionals from all over Europe, but also because it boosts the local economy and strengthens the international profile of the town”. The Councillor added that “Break The Ice is one of the most important events in the MICE sector and its being held in Sitges strengthens our position as a top-level business tourism destination”.

Enriching, attractive and sustainable programme

The event will combine working sessions with activities to discover Sitges and experiences linked to sustainability and social responsibility. One of these activities is the “Eco Heroes” sustainable and solidarity gymkhana, which will take participants to discover Sitges through a route around its iconic points, linked to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGS). The event also includes networking suppers where participants can continue to generate ties and business.

Sitges as a strategic destination for the MICE sector

By hosting the Break The Ice Forum, Sitges strengthens its position as an ideal destination for international congresses and events. This meeting not only strengthens the town’s appeal in the MICE sector, but also promotes a sustainable tourism model and experiences with value, based on the town’s commitment to innovation and local economic development.
