The 'Imprescindibles' cycle, organized by the Culture department of Sitges City Council, presents this year 24 proposals as part of the Terramar Gardens Festival in Sitges, which will be held from July 28 to August 9. Since the beginning of the contest, the Sitget council has committed to making visible and claiming the local talent and of the Garraf region. In this fourth edition, the cycle unfolds a program with 8 musical concerts, 12 DJs and 4 dance shows.

Coinciding with International Music Day, the poster made up of twenty artists who will offer their musical works and choreographic pieces was unveiled this Wednesday at the Old Market. Albert Oliver-Rodés, representative of Sitges City Council, the co-director of the Jardins Terramar Festival, Joan Ramon Rodríguez, and the coordinator of the Imprescindibles 2023 Cycle, Dani Arbonés, took part in the event.

The doors of the Village stage will open from 8 p.m. when the DJ sessions will begin. At 8:55 p.m. the musical performances and dance shows will begin until 9:30 p.m., before the concerts in the Auditorium, the main stage of the contest.

Music was present during the presentation of Imprescindibles 2023. At the beginning of the evening the artists Laura Martínez, Javi Rodríguez and Alejandra Villar Caziani performed on the piano, while to close it the DJ, internationally recognized and resident of Sitges, Mona Lee, has performed a live session in which she also sang.

A program that combines music, dance and local DJs every afternoon before the concerts in the Auditorium

From July 28 to August 5, the Village stage, located in the pools of the Jardins de Terramar, will be able to enjoy a wide range of musical proposals. Pop, rumba, soul, folk, funky, hip-hop, reggae and house are the styles that can be heard every afternoon from 8.45 pm, after the DJ sessions. The most festive and Mediterranean rumba of Roka Curtiada (July 28) will inaugurate this year's musical performances. The following day, internationally renowned DJ and producer Mona Lee (July 29) will perform an original performance, mixing her DJ sessions with live vocals to showcase House music from all genres. The program will continue with the groove of Betson & Juanlu Leprevost (July 30) to offer their "more surfer" folk to the soul of the seventies or funk to electronica; Coser y Cantar (August 1st) who will set the rhythm with sounds ranging from hip-hop to reggae, and Dos calles (August 2nd), and the band Impact Wave (August 3rd) will perform versions of the great artists of the Soul, Rhythm & Blues among other styles. The music program of Imprescindibles will be closed by the female rhythmic and danceable soul duet Soulnami (August 4) and the more nostalgic pop of singer-songwriter Lydia Ruiz (August 5).

The Village stage will focus on dance from August 6 to 9 to show various shows performed by local artists. Contemporary and urban dance will have its space with 'LA RE-volució, Bach, Cases, Theremin' by the dancer and choreographer, Silvia Cuesta, and the cellist, Sveta Trushka, (August 6); 'Bhakti' performed by Sandra Ortiz and Sunil Guijarro (August 7); 'Les paraules' by Melissa Marin and Selene Martínez (August 8) and 'Triple Bill' by Alberto Serrano and Estela Coll (August 9).

People who have a ticket for the Auditorium concert have access to the Village included. For those who wish to attend only the performances of the Imprescindibles 2023 cycle, they will be able to purchase access tickets to the Village Zone from June 22 on the Cultura Sitges website (culturasitges.cat/entrades) or on the same day of the performances at the Festival box office.

The ticket has a general price of €5 and includes access to the Village area of the Jardins Terramar Festival from 8 p.m. (but does not include access to the concerts in the Auditorium). Various discounts also apply.

Essential Cycle

The Imprescindibles cycle was created in 2020 by the Culture Council with the aim of showing gratitude and support to local musicians during the pandemic and scheduled concerts at the Hort de Can Falç. The following year (2021) it was integrated into the programming of the Jardins Terramar Festival and dance, DJ sessions and emerging artists from the rest of the region were added as a novelty.
