Observation of seabirds
Seabirds represent one of the most endangered bird families in the world due to different problems such as the transformation and destruction of their ecosystems, pollution and waste, interaction with fishing, etc. With the Seabird watching activity, we will learn about the most representative species of the Mediterranean coast and their main characteristics; introducing the observations in the citizen science platform Ornitho.cat (Catalan Institute of Ornithology) and Minka.
In the Costas del Garraf marine area we find different species of interest and conservation such as the Balearic and Mediterranean shearwaters (Puffinus mauretanicus - yelkouan), the shag (Gulosus aristotelis), Audouin's gull (Ichthyaetus audouraci) Thalasseus sandvicensis) among others that use this area to feed and make their migrations through the different natural areas of the territory.
The Centre d'Estudis del Mar is organising this activity in collaboration with Biodiversitat Sitges.
Free activity with prior registration: registration form.
Capacity limited to 25 people (You can register until Thursday 15 February).
