Sitges will host many religious and cultural celebrations for Holy Week. From this Friday (12 April) to Easter Monday (22 April) processions, “caramelles” (Catalan festive songs) and exhibitions will form a wide range of traditional activities in Holy Week.

FRIDAY 12 April

11:00 am to 8:00 pm, exhibition of the image of Our Lady of Sorrows in the hermitage of Sant Sebastià.

Followed by farewell ceremony for outgoing administrators and inauguration of new administrators.

8:30 pm, processional marches, by the Catalan Vuitcentist Band, for the closing ceremony of the 325th anniversary of the foundation of the Congregation. Act organized by the Department of Culture, Traditions and Festivals of the Sitges City Council.

SATURDAY, 13 April

11:00 am to 2:00 pm, exhibition of the image of Our Lady of Sorrows in the hermitage of Sant Sebastià.

5:00 pm to 8:00 pm, exhibition of the image of Our Lady of Sorrows in the hermitage of Sant Sebastià.

6:00 pm, Rosary to Our Lady of Sorrows.

PALM SUNDAY, 14 April

10:00 am, blessing and mass at the Sant Joan Baptista Hospital.

11:00 am, in the Plaza Sr. Alcalde, blessing, procession and mass.

11:00 am to 8:00 pm, exhibition of the image of Our Lady of Sorrows in the Hermitage of Sant Sebastià.

11:30 am, blessing and mass, at Escola Pia in Sitges.

At 12 noon, in the Plaza del Ayuntamiento, blessing of palms and branches, procession and mass.

THURSDAY, 18 April

Exhibition of Holy Week floats in the parish church.

Afternoon - End of religious celebration in the evening until 10:00 pm

• Altar of the Virgin of Montserrat: Paso de los Escolapios float and Paso de la Flagelación float.
• Altar of Our Lady of Sorrows: Float of Our Lady of Sorrows.
• Ecce Homo Chapel: Paso del Ecce Homo and Veracreu float.
• Altar of Santo Cristo: Image of Santo Cristo.

The Paso de los Marineros float will be exhibited in the old house of Can Falç (Passeig de la Ribera) on Maundy Thursday from 6:00 pm to 10:00 pm and Good Friday morning, from the 11:00 am to 2:00 pm, and in the afternoon, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm.

The Brotherhood of the Holy Sepulchre will exhibit the image of the Holy Sepulchre together with an exhibition of dioramas related to Calvary, organised by the nativity group, at the Palau del Rei Moro (C / d'en Bosc street) on Holy Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm, Holy Thursday from 10:00 am to 10:00 pm, and Holy Friday from 10:00 pm to 8:00 pm.

11:00 am, reception of the Holy Oils and Exhibition of the Holy Week floats, in the Parochial Church.

7:00 pm, Mass of the Lord's Supper in the parish church. At the end of the celebration, exposition of the Holy Week floats.

FRIDAY 19 April

8:00 am, in the hermitage of Sant Sebastià, Via Crucis that will leave the hermitage for the parish church. Once the Via Crucis has finished, in the parish church and until 9:00 pm is the Exhibition of the Holy Week floats.

Once the procession is over, this year’s closing ceremony, dedicated to Our Lady of Sorrows will be held, to celebrate the 325th anniversary of the foundation of the Congregation in the municipality of Sitges.

SATURDAY 20 April

11:00 am, Readings and Awards Service, in the parish church.

10:30, Easter Vigil at parish church. At the end of the vigil, inside the Church, “caramelles” singing, by the Retiro, Prado and Sitgetanes groups.

10:30 pm, in the Plaza del Ayuntamiento, singing by the three “caramelles” groups.

EASTER MONDAY, 22 April

Sanctuary of the Virgin of Vinyet: 11:00 am, Mass, singing of the Goigs and "Caramelles" (this day there will be no evening mass in the parish).
