The artist Lola Ballbé exhibits ‘The Colours of Nature’ at the Miramar-Centre Cultural

The exhibition features 50 works created between 2023 and 2025 and is on until 11 May

The Barcelona artist Lola Ballbé explores the intimate connection between the colours of the Mediterranean and the sensory perception of landscapes in her exhibition on the ground floor of the Miramar-Centre Cultural. The opening ceremony for the exhibition ‘The Colours of Nature’ took place on Saturday and was led by the Councillor for Culture, Albert Oliver-Rodés, and the painter.

Lola Ballbé has painted all her life and has been an art teacher for thirty years. This exhibition features 50 of her works, created over a period or around two and a half years, between 2023 and 2025. The pieces in the exhibition allow visitors to observe how the artist's abstract painting has strength and power through colour, which commands and shapes the composition. In this context, the artist affirms that “the thread for the display, as the name says, are the colours of nature. Starting from this idea, I have found colours an endless source of inspiration. I take inspiration in the blues and the greens of the water in the sea, of the misty skies and the tones reflected, as well as the yellows and reds of the earth, creating compositions that convey deep emotions. Light and visual and tactile textures play an important part, offering captivating chromatic experiences”.

The painter adds “I’ve found myself INSIDE... And that’s how I name my paintings... Inside white, inside blue, inside green, inside red and inside black”.

Created using naturally crafted pigments with oil and resins, the works reflect a craft commitment and a direct connection with nature that enriches every piece and provides both visual and tactile textures.

The exhibition ‘The Colours of Nature’ is the result of a public competition to select exhibition projects to be displayed at the Miramar-Centre Cultural. The Councillor Albert Oliver-Rodés affirms that “this exhibition once again shows how important it is to back this initiative as it enables us to discover talents such as that of Lola Ballbé and to broaden the range of culture we offer to the general public”.

The competition prize is also an experience that the artist appreciates: “I’d like to thank Sitges Town Council for the opportunity to exhibit in this beautiful place”, adding “I fell in love with this place that fits in perfectly with my project”.

The exhibition is on until 11 May, a display which according to the artist needs to be visited “with the freedom to look and interpret, and most of all I urge you to participate intimately with the creative act”.
