Sitges prepares an extensive cultural and recreational program for Sant Jordi
The Sitges City Council presents a Sant Jordi 2024 program full of cultural and recreational activities coordinated with the collaboration of entities and institutions. From April 14 to 27, children's workshops, book presentations, storytelling, sardanas, human towers and concerts, among others, will be organized.
Among the programming, the Sant Jordi Proclamation stands out, which this 2024 will be given by Andreu Bosch, teacher of Catalan language and literature and host of the Santiago Rusiñol Reading Club (April 16, 7 p.m., courtyard of the Miramar-Centre Cultural).
The program will begin previously on April 14 with the presentation of the book 'Galop de Sang' by Joan Duran i Ferrer (12 p.m., Malvasía Interpretation Center in Sitges). With this novel, the poet and narrator from Sitges won ex aequo the latest Andrómina Narrative Prize within the framework of the 52 October Awards. Another literary novelty of this 2024 is the book 'Tempus fugit. Els lemes dels rellotges de sol penedesencs' by August Bover i Font, which will be presented on April 21 (7 p.m., Grup d'Estudis Sitgetans assembly hall, at the Espai Cultural Pere Stämpfli.
To commemorate the centenary of the death of Joan Salvat-Papasseit (1894-1924), Sitges en Vers XII is organising a poetry and music recital dedicated to this avant-garde poet, columnist and cultural activist at the Miramar-Cultural Centre (20 April, 6 pm). The Casino Prado Suburense also joins this commemoration to revalue his work and hosts a concert in tribute to Salvat-Papasseit (21 April, 11 a.m.).
Around Sant Jordi's Day other activities have also been programmed, such as a literary visit to the Museu del Cau Ferrat (20 April, 11 a.m.), a session of "L'Hora del Conte" (19 April, 17. 30 h Josep Roig i Raventós Library), a reading marathon for children dedicated to the work of Lola Anglada (12 h Terraces of the Santiago Rusiñol Library), the Reading Marathon, promoted by the Museums of Sitges in the Saló d'Or of the Palau de Maricel (20th April, from 6 to 8 p.m.), the traditional Castellers' Festival at the Cap de la Vila (21 April, 12 noon) with the participation of the Colla Jove de Castellers de Sitges and the Castellers de Sants and Santa Jordina's Day - Poetic Coven, organised by Colors Sitges Link (27 April, 12 noon, Santiago Rusiñol Library).
Sant Jordi Fair
Sant Jordi's Day will be celebrated on 23 April with the traditional Book and Rose Fair on Passeig de la Ribera from 10 am to 8 pm. Among the stalls will be the institutional stand where throughout the day Sitges authors will be signing their books: Ignasi Viladevall, Eugenia Kléber, Edwin Winkels, Joan Duran, Ania Angels, Josep Maria Tubau, Olga da Silva, Lucila Baiardi, Saskia Lange, David Jou, Lídia Gázquez, Eduard Tomás Sanahuja, Pura López, Álvaro Sabater, Josep Maria Fernández Usac and August Bover.
To close the day there will be the traditional Sardana dance with the Cobla Maricel, at 8.15 p.m. at the Cap de la Vila, organised by Amics de la Sardana.
