Sitgestiu – Modernist Night Tour
This guided tour invites visitors to walk through the streets and settings that turned Sitges into one of the great cultural centres of Catalonia in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
Accompanied by AGISitges guides, participants will discover the buildings, figures, and events that marked the town’s Modernist splendour. The route helps visitors understand the fundamental role played by figures such as Santiago Rusiñol, Miquel Utrillo, and Ramon Casas, as well as many other artists and intellectuals who found in Sitges a space for creation, experimentation, and freedom.
The experience culminates with a performance by dancer Sílvia Cuesta, who performs the Serpentine Dance, the famous choreography created by American dancer Loïe Fuller and premiered at the Park Theatre in Brooklyn (New York) on 15 February 1892. With its flowing movements and luminous effects, this piece became one of the iconic stage works of Modernism.
A different way to discover Sitges at dusk, when the summer light transforms the streets and buildings and invites us to relive the spirit of a movement that forever changed the cultural history of the town.
“As evening falls, the light reveals the spaces and stories that made Sitges the crucible of Modernism.”
