Sitges makes this 2024 edition of the Mediterranean Guitar Festival grow with a flamenco guitar series
The Mediterranean Guitar Festival will be holding a new edition in Sitges from 12th April to 25th October with a programme of 38 concerts at the Ermita Sant Sebastià and the Teatro Prado. More than 70 international and Catalan musicians, including leading figures from the guitar world, will be taking part in the fifth edition of this event, organised in collaboration with the Sitges Town Council's Tourism Department, which this year is increasing the number of performances with the addition of 6 more concerts compared to last year.
As a novelty, a series of flamenco guitar concerts will be held at the Teatro Prado.
The director of the Mediterranean Guitar Festival, Tono Blasi, remarks that this year "the event is expanding the musical offer with a flamenco guitar series at the Teatro Prado to differentiate it from the classical music concerts, around the guitar, that take place at the Ermita de Sant Sebastià. In this way we want to differentiate the two proposals and broaden the audience with very different styles".
The concerts will always take place at 9 p.m. both in the Ermita de Sant Sebastià and in the Teatro Prado, the two main venues of the event. In the Ermita de Sant Sebastià the performances will be on Fridays and Tuesdays, while in the Teatro Prado they will take place on Saturdays 18th May, 13th July, 17th August, 14th and 21st September, 19th October, and also on Sunday 7th July.
