The British Consul General in Barcelona visits Sitges

The British Consul General in Barcelona, ​​Lloyd Milen, visits Sitges today, Thursday, accompanied by the Councilor for Tourism, Brandon Jones, with the aim of learning about the different assets of the municipality.

 

Lloyd Milen and the British ambassador, Hugh Elliot, were already in Sitges last year to present the Councilor for Tourism and Civil Rights of the Town Hall with the British Empire medal for services rendered to the British community of Sitges.

 

After visiting the Can Milà tourist office, the consul and the councilor went to the Sitges Town Hall, where they were received by the mayoress of Sitges, Aurora Carbonell. During the meeting, Sitges' commitment to breaking seasonality and with business tourism and congresses was explained. This segment is consolidated and, at the same time, continues to grow and attracts thousands of visitors per year. In this sense, Sitges remains the leading destination for conference and meeting tourism in Catalonia, after Barcelona. The visit to Sitges includes the Maricel Palace, the Port of Sitges - Aiguadolç and the Hotel Mèlia, Eurostars Hotel and Hotel ME Sitges Terramar.

 

Through these meetings, Sitges wants to generate synergies to establish future actions related to the British tourist profile. The consul will also meet with the President of the Sitges Hotel and Catering Guild, Oskar Stöber, and with other businessmen from the Sitges tourism sector to learn about Sitges' tourism offer.

 

Before concluding the visit, the British Consul General in Barcelona, ​​Lloyd Milen, will meet at night with the Mayor of Sitges, Aurora Carbonell, and the Minister of Foreign Action and the European Union, Meritxell Serret, at the Festival Jardins Terramar de Sitges for attend the concert of the legendary Welsh singer, Tom Jones, and get to know one of the reference festivals of the summer.
