The most diverse LGTBIQ+ cinema meets at Festival Endimaris
The best LGTBIQ+ themed cinema will be showcased starting this Friday, November 8, at the 4th edition of Endimaris Sitges. As a new feature, this year Endimaris has transitioned from a cinema showcase to a full-fledged festival. Additionally, for the first time, it includes an official short film competition section.
The film ¿Quién quiere casarse con un astronauta?, directed and produced by David Matamoros, will open Endimaris Sitges. The world premiere of this film will take place in Sitges, with the director in attendance, accompanied by actors Raúl Tejón and Sabrina Praga, as well as producer Ángeles Hernández.
The closing film for Endimaris Sitges will be Emilia Pérez, directed by Jacques Audiard, which is France's Oscar candidate.
The festival's lineup includes Spanish productions and co-productions, such as La Mitad de Ana, directed by Marta Nieto, Los Amantes Astronautas by Marco Berger, Luces Azules by Lucas Santa Ana, and Reir, Cantar, Tal Vez Llorar by Marc Ferrer. Additionally, there will be a selection of international productions such as Barber, an Irish production directed by Fintan Connolly and starring Aidan Gillen (Queer as Folk UK, Game of Thrones). Drift is a British production by Anthony Chen, starring Cynthia Erivo (Wicked, Widows). Korean cinema will also be represented with The Summer, an animated production by Han Ji-won, and the romantic film No Heaven, but Love by Han Jay.
Furthermore, there will be special sessions, the first accessible cinema experience (with subtitles for the hearing impaired and audio descriptions for the visually impaired via the Audesc Mobile app), the Endimaris Sitges 2024 Awards to naturally promote the LGTBIQ+ community and convey values of equality, tolerance, and respect, and the Endimaris Script Lab Sitges 2024, a day dedicated to screenwriting, which will take place on November 12 at the Miramar Cultural Center.
