The beaches of Sitges renew their 9 blue flags and that of Port Ginesta

95 beaches and 23 ports of Catalonia have been awarded the Blue Flag 2024

The nine Sitges beaches that have held the blue flag until now will once again retain this distinction in 2024. This was decided by the international Blue Flag jury of the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE), which annually awards the distinction in collaboration with the Association for Environmental and Consumer Education (ADEAC).

These nine distinctions place Sitges as the Catalan municipality with the most beaches recognised for their sustainability, water quality, safety, attention to people with functional diversity and complementary or educational offer.

Specifically, the beaches where the blue flag will be flying are Les Botigues, Garraf, Aiguadolç, Balmins, Sant Sebastià, La Ribera, L'Estanyol, La Barra and Terramar.

In addition, the Port Ginesta marina has also been awarded this distinction.

This year, Catalonia has 95 award-winning beaches that are internationally recognised for their quality and services. 27 beaches are in Girona, 20 in Barcelona, 22 in the Penedès region, 18 in Tarragona and 8 in Terres de l'Ebre. As for the ports, 23 have been recognised, 9 in the Girona area, 7 in Barcelona and 7 more in Tarragona and Terres de l'Ebre.
