The monument to G. K. Chesterton shines again on the Paseo de la Ribera

Sitges Town Council has restored the monument to the British journalist.

Created in 1976, the monument is a tribute to the British writer and journalist, G. K. Chesterton, who made long stays in the town in 1926, 1928 and 1935 at the Hotel Subur, one of the most luxurious hotels in Catalonia at the time.

The restoration is part of the restoration and conservation programme of the Sitges sculpture park, promoted by the Sitges Town Council's Department of Culture and has been entrusted to the Sitges Heritage Consortium.

The monument is a stone monolith with a bronze medallion by Manuel Muns i Farreras, surrounded by a paved planter, now with flowers and a plaque commemorating G. K. Chesterton's stay in the town.

The restoration process has been carried out by the conservator and restorer, Anna González Rueda.

The commemorative stele consists of the medallion, the plaque and the jardinière. The design of the pedestal is the work of the Sitges artist Agustí Albors.
