Family workshop, Zoòtrop
Sitges museums is getting involved again for another year with the Sitges - Catalonia International Fantastic Film Festival.
Sitges museums have also prepared a children's workshop on the fantasy genre and, specifically, on the visual magic of optical effects.
Children will be able to create their own zoetrope based on an animation inspired by the Festival logo, the emblematic image of the giant gorilla King Kong perched on top of the La Punta bell tower.
The zoòtrop is a toy invented in 1834 by the English mathematician William George Horner that reproduces the illusion of movement. The piece is composed of a circular drum and a strip with images that breaks down a cyclical movement. When turning the drum, if you look through one of the slots, you get the illusion of movement.
