Saint George’s will flood Sitges’ museums with books

Editorial news, reading marathon and book delivery

The museums have scheduled a set of cultural proposals for all audiences and add to the charm and magic of Día del Libro y la Rosa (Book and Rose Day, celebrated on Saint George’s Day).

23 April, the El Cau Ferrat and Maricel Museums will offer a free book to everyone who purchases a ticket.

Saint George’s Day activities will continue on the following Saturday, 27 April, with a reading marathon, aimed at the young and old. Two works will be read: The short history of Santiago Rusiñol, by Vinyet Panyella, for children aged between 9 and 12, and Hojas de vida (1898), by Santiago Rusiñol. To participate in the reading, call 93 894 03 64 (Ext. 1).

With the first work, the youngest can learn about the painter Ramon Casas and delve into his story in a fun way. Rusiñol's work is a collection of short stories from the Decadent movement which inspired the production of the author's subsequent dramatic work and which for many years provided plots to the arguments to Rusiñoliano theatre. Titles that the Museums will give away to visitors:

  • “Sitges fa 2000 anys”
  • “Máximes i malpensaments”
  • “Guia sumària del Cau Ferrat” (antiga guia)
  • “Assaig sobre les diferents etapes pictòriques de Santiago Rusiñol”. “Catàleg de l'Exposició Homenatge 50è Anniversary of the seva mort 1931-1981”
  • “Manolo Hugué. Una exposició documental”
  • “Lluís Montané. El mediterranisme dinàmic”
  • “Antoni Taulé. Lux”
  • “Col·lecció pre-colombina”
