Born in Providence, Rhode Island, in 1954, Scott Hamilton became known with a jazz that was not fashionable at the time, based on the style of saxophonists such as Illinois Jacquet, Eddie Davis or Paul Gonsalves. The expressiveness of the classic tenor sax and its impeccable phrasing were received with skepticism by his contemporaries but with great interest by the swing public, especially after his first recordings. His repertoire includes standards, ballads and blues.
